2012: A Recap

Jan 2, 2013 by

Well, here we are. The year that the Mayans thought would never happen. The year that’s essentially a bonus round for the human race. I love change, and 2012 was such a slam-bang year that I can’t wait to see what 2013 has in store. But first, before we wipe the dust of 2012 completely from our feet (and shoulders), let me reminisce for a moment about what the big 2-doz brought me and taught me.

My Cheatin’ Heart, Chica...

Oct 20, 2012 by

Lights up on CHELSEA, alone on the stage, which is decorated to resemble one of Chicago’s cozy, imaginative bars like The Long Room or The Hungry Brain. She leans in to her companion and begins to speak furtively, desperately. We are watching something deeply private.

Banishing the Blahs

Last week, I found myself feeling more than a little mopey; a combination of writer’s block and my empty 2013 calendar tossed me into a mild depression.. A change of scenery was in order, I figured, since it had been a good month since I’d done any traveling (which is really an eternity for me). My destination would be Boone, North Carolina and I was flying solo.

COMPLETED #93–Watch LOST...

Aug 12, 2012 by

In order to make sure that I do my duty and watch EVERY SINGLE episode, I am going to hold myself accountable by keeping track of my short reactions to every episode. I’m confident that it will. The total episode count is 121.

Just thought, if you’re interested in the playwrighting side of my world, you might want to hop over to the formidable blog of Ms. Sheena LaShay. She interviewed me for her “Shiva’s Muse” blog (where she has also interviewed my awesome husband), and it was a ton of fun.

Cleanse it to Wins It — ...

I would like to tell you I have spent the last six days meditating and turning my desire for bad foods into positive energy, but mostly I have spent the last six days working like a crazy person and daydreaming about fried things. But it does feel nice to know that everything I’m putting into my system right now is good for it, instead of trying to eat some veggies and fruits to “make up for” the sugar and cheese and coffee. There is nothing to balance out. For the last six days, it’s been all good.

I subconsciously believed that this trip back would be like taking a breath for the first time in a long time. I kept telling myself that if I could make it though another day, another week, in the mountains, I could get back to my real life in March. But the longer I’m in Chicago, the more I realize that my “real life” might not have been all I cracked it up to be.
