Rocking/Coveting: Jan3.14

Jan 3, 2014 by

This first week of 2014 has been a busy one: NYE fancy festivities, NY Day low-key BBQ festivities, an art opening at the William King Museum, and (hopefully) this weekend, a trip to Louisville for the invited dress of a show I’ve been dying to see.  So what versatile bit of accessory gold from my closet have I been rocking to hop from event to event (and state to state)?  And what has all of this page-turning and friend-visiting and resolution-making got me coveting from the fashion world this week?

Rocking: Alexis Bittar Siyabona Gold Garnet Petal Cap Earrings

Alexis Bittar Siyabona Gold Garnet Earrings

These are probably my favorite earrings, so it’s fitting I’d use them to start the new year right.  Featuring a Moroccan pave cap with faceted dark green Grossularite Garnet, and inspired by dreams of Africa. Siyabona means, “We see, we have the ability to see the future” in Zulu. This was my first piece by Brooklyn-based jeweler Alexis Bittar (after years of coveting), from his 2012 Elements collection.  They are gorgeous enough for champagne at midnight, but reserved enough for an afternoon outdoor shindig.  And dark green garnet isn’t a stone you see every day.  J’adore.

Coveting: Alexis Bittar Hyperion Gold Labradorite Doublet Orbiting Clip Earring

Alexis Bittar Hyperion Gold Labradorite Doublet Orbiting Clip EarringCarrying on my love of Alexis, but vamping it up with a bit more edge in 2014, these gorgeous baubles are shiny and refined, with a smoky unfinished quality that makes them young and modern, and an optical illusion thrown in for added interest.  Custom cut Labradorite is framed in crystal-encrusted rings to form this luminous clip earring, from the Miss Havisham Collection.  These beauties would pump up any outfit, even jeans and a sweater, to the “I have arrived” level.  And they are currently on sale.  Just sayin’.  See all the glory of AB by clicking here.
