Autotuning with Celebrities

May 29, 2012 by

In a completely surprising and unexpected coda to my Can’t Hug Every Cat post of last week, I actually MET one of the Gregory Brothers (the geniuses behind that video and the famous Auto-Tune the News segments) at a party right here in Abingdon.

Who said nothing ever happens in Blaine?

It turns out that Michael Gregory, pictured above, had an accompanist/friend in college who just so happens to be the Barter’s current musical director.  He’s from the area, and he and his dad came to see the opening of “Legally Blonde: the Musical” this weekend.  Apparently his father sees lots of show at the Barter every season.  His dad was also wearing a name tag that read “Father of the Gregory Brothers,” which reminded me of something my parents would do.

Michael and Miles got to talking about music software, and I was just happy to be a fly on the wall after that.  But then the conversation came back around to copyright law and Sondheim, and I was back in the game!

And then the party had an AFTER-party, and I was reminded about how awesome second locations are.

In honor of this happy surprise, I give you my sister’s favorite segment of Auto-Tune the News.  She and Lauren were appropriately jealous.

Hey, you!

Oh hey! Thanks for this 🙂 Oh, and I love that dress! The name Sondheim reminds me of that AWFUL movie. That is all.
