Completed #94–Wear a Size 6 Dress to an Event

Jun 1, 2009 by

I feel that the completion of this task was directly related to the completion of task #22–Eat No Cheese for a Week, which actually turned into “Eat No Cheese for 17 Days and Also Stop Eating So Many Damn Sweets, You Cow.”

Friday night I threw a Mini-Party to welcome my sister to Chicago and also to celebrate the visit of my best buddy Lauren.  The theme was “Mini,” which involved mini-food, mini-drinks, and lots of mini-decor (action figures, a tiny lunar landing, a little slot machine that squirts water in your face when you pull the lever and a little cash register that talks.  We spent time and money at Uncle Fun.).  The guest list wasn’t Mini, however; judging from the pictures, I’m looking at and what I can recall, I’m guessing we had about 60-65 peeps roll through between the hours of 9:45pm and 5am.  And a handful of those I didn’t even know or get introduced to.

Suffice it to say, the Mini Party of 29 May 2009 mos def qualifies as an “event.”  And I wore this silver mini-dress from P+L, which I purchased a week before specifically for the event.
It is a size 6.

This is a crappy picture.  I swear it looks really cute in real life.  More like this:

I got a ton of compliments on it and I felt hot.
Some better photos (?) of me in said garment:

Lookit, the fact of the matter is I was having so much fun that I forgot to take a picture of myself in the dress for the exclusive purpose of noting it on the blog, so you’ll have to trust me.  Also, I tried several times this morning to photograph the tag to prove the size of the thing, and it just wouldn’t come out legible.  So you’ll have to take my word for that, too.  But, really, I’d only be cheating myself if I lied.  And I like me too much for that.

The purpose of this task was to motivate myself to eat better, and I’ve been doing that so much this summer that the wearing of the smaller-than-usual-sized dress was a delightful bonus.  I honestly didn’t think I’d accomplish it so soon.  Aaaand, I may have totally undone all my good work yesterday at Margie’s Candies.  It’s not like I’m going to start wearing everything size 6 now; I’ll hold on to my size 8 wardrobe for the time being.  But I am going to a clothing swap at Sue’s tonight (which will help me to get rid of some of this and accomplish this), and perhaps I’ll pick up a few more items along this new frontier.  Who knows?
